Hazardous Materials
Kootenay Contracting is a full-service HazMat company. Certified, trained and fully equipped for sampling, reporting and removals.
We have the expertise and knowledge to guide you through all aspects of your abatement, from sampling and reporting to final disposal.
Asbestos & Lead
Before starting any renovation or demolition work, it’s essential to know whether hazardous materials are present. We offer certified asbestos and lead sampling services to help you meet regulatory requirements and keep your project safe from the start.
Our team collects samples following strict safety and handling protocols, and all materials are analyzed by accredited laboratories. In addition to sampling, we also prepare hazardous materials surveys that identify the presence, location, and condition of asbestos, lead, and other designated substances within your building. These reports are often required before permits are issued and provide a clear roadmap for safe and compliant abatement.
Mold Sampling & Abatement
Mold issues aren’t always visible, and indoor air quality can be affected even when there are no clear signs of growth. We offer both surface and air sampling to identify the presence and types of mold spores in your building, including species like Aspergillus, Cladosporium, and Stachybotrys. Air sampling is especially valuable for detecting hidden mold in walls, crawlspaces or HVAC systems.
Exposure to elevated levels of mold can lead to serious health issues, particularly for individuals with asthma, allergies, or weakened immune systems. Identifying and addressing mold problems early is essential for protecting occupant health and maintaining a safe indoor environment.
Once identified, we provide safe and effective mold abatement services to remove the contamination and address the underlying causes.
Whether you're a homeowner planning a renovation or a contractor managing a larger project, we provide full-service hazardous materials support—from sampling and reporting to safe, compliant abatement. From small removals to complete turnkey solutions, our experienced team has the resources to get the job done efficiently and in full compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations.
Training & Certification
From January 1st, 2024 new training and licensing requirements are in effect, for everyone in British Columbia working with asbestos.
Kootenay Contracting is fully trained and licensed to adhere to these regulations (Level 1, 2, 3 & S). We’re also certified AHERA building inspectors and we’ve followed additional training for working with asbestos and hazardous materials.
In short, we’re well trained, certified and experienced in sampling, identifying and removing hazardous materials.
And we’re ready to help you with your hazmat project.
